What’s a handmade soap?

Handmade soap is a blend of both science and art by combining the scientific knowledge of the last hundreds of years and the artistic creativity of the soapmaker, each bar is safe, luxurious and unique. There are several types of handcrafted soap. The soap can be made from scratch using the cold or hot process methods. Handcrafted soaps made from scratch require three ingredients to become soap: oil (only vegetable oil in my case), water and sodium hydroxide. These three ingredients, mixed together in correct proportions at specific temperatures, cause a chemical reaction called "saponification". There is no sodium hydroxide (lye) left in the finished products. Other ingredients may be included to provide additional benefits or to color or scent the soap, but these are not part of the chemical process that results in basic soap.

Our soaps are made using the cold process method. The process of mixing oils and butters is taking place without any further external heating. Our soaps are only plant based, palm oil free and lightly scented with essential oils. Once made they need to cure for at least 4 weeks, during this time the soap will loose all the water and fully dry.

Why using handmade soap?

The quality of ingredients. Handcrafted soaps retain natural glycerin and are made with nourishing oils and butters that moisturize and protects your skin while washing. Commercial soaps are not real soaps, they are mostly detergents made with foaming agents, sulfates and parabens that tend to dry your skin.

Why Bolle di Natura?

Bolle di Natura means bubbles of nature in Italian. When I started making soaps for me and my family, I wanted to create a product with good quality ingredients and sustainably made. Since I was born and grew up in Italy, my soaps are inspired by Italian scents and botanicals. All soaps are palm oil free, mainly made with olive oil and botanicals like rosemary, basil, thyme, etc. All products are sold using recycled and plastic free packaging.

How do you scent your soap? 
Our soap are scented using essential oils and some are unscented. Essential oils are plant and flowers extracts versus fragrance oils that are synthetic and made in a lab using chemicals.

How long does a soap bar last in the shower? 

They last weeks but they can last longer if you allow them to fully dry between uses. A soap draining dish is a must when you use a handmade soap due to its natural glycerin content that attracts water.

What if I have allergies?

We usually work in a nutty environment and use many different botanicals. If you have allergies, please contact us and we will be happy to work on a customized order for you.

Does Bolle di Natura have a store front? 

Not at this moment. Purchases can be made online and products will be shipped straight to your home.

We are opening soon a location in Paris with shipping allover Europe and curbside pickup option in Paris.
